As part of Women’s Safety in Public Places (WSPP) campaign in 10 districts, two-day youth capacity-building workshop began in the port city of Chattogram on October 8. D Engineers Club (DEC) is leading campaign activity in Chattogram and Nazneen Ahmed, Country Economist of UNDP Bangladesh inaugurated the event on October 8. Md Abdul Quayyum, Head of Communications and Sharmin Islam, Gender Analyst of UNDP Bangladesh were present as guests of honour.
Susmita Paik, Deputy Director, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) shared the perspective of NHRC virtually and informed youths on different initiatives and services to ensure women’s safety today (October 9). Selected youth representatives from different corners from Chattogram have come together to develop an action plan to roll-out the WSPP grassroots campaign activities.
With support from governments of Sweden and Switzerland, the WSPP campaign is implemented by the NHRC, Young Bangla and the Human Rights Programme of UNDP.
